Springtime Sniffles: Conquer Seasonal Allergies Naturally

ARE SEASONAL ALLERGIES MAKING YOU MISERABLE?
You’re looking forward to enjoying sunny spring days and suddenly - sneezing fits, relentless congestion, itchy eyes, scratchy throat, pounding headaches, and never-ending fatigue hit you out of nowhere.
The seasonal allergy struggle is real, and it’s downright miserable.

But what if those annoying symptoms were actually your body’s way of waving a red flag, saying, "Hey, something’s not quite right here!"?
What if, instead of suffering, you could tune in to these messages and make some simple adjustments?
Imagine a world where you can minimize, or even stop, the allergy-induced agony.

It seems reasonable that many seasonal allergy symptoms could actually be our body trying to get rid of something!  Consider sneezing… forcing something out, watery eyes… tears flow to wash something out, runny nose… mucus, moving something out…then there’s headache, congestion. build up and pressure and we wish something would move out!
These symptoms are not our body making a mistake, they are a response, a clue, an alarm and our body's way of protecting us! Our bodies are beyond amazing. So, let’s dig into what we can do to support our amazing bodies. If you suffer from seasonal allergies, there are things you can do!

NATURAL SOLUTIONS

Stinging Nettle: This herb sounds more like a problem than a help, but it's packed with medicinal properties. It's shown to fight inflammation and has a long tradition of use for taming allergies. You can take it in capsule form or brew a soothing tea. To ramp up its effectiveness, add dried ginger to your nettle tea for an extra anti-inflammatory boost. We have made a Nettle tincture that has successfully kept allergy symptoms at bay in our home.

Quercetin: A powerful flavonoid, quercetin stabilizes mast cells, which reduces histamine production and lessens symptoms of hay fever and seasonal allergies. It also strengthens capillaries in the upper respiratory tract and supports the immune system. Quercetin is so effective that it has even been referred to as nature's benadryl

Spirulina: This superfood is proven to significantly improve allergy symptoms by inhibiting histamine productionOne study found that 2 grams of spirulina a day significantly reduced symptoms such as sneezing, nasal discharge, congestion and itching.

Probiotics: These friendly bacteria not only improve immunity and gut health but can also help reduce allergy symptoms by helping to balance your body's immune response. Some scientists believe that many allergies are caused by a lack of bacterial diversity in our gut, possibly due to the over-emphasis on hygiene in western societies. Probiotics can help build back bacterial diversity. Not all probiotics are created equally, and many options out there are less than desirable. Young Living’s Life 9 is a high-potency probiotic for full-spectrum gut support.

Vitamin C: Besides being a potent antioxidant and powerhouse for immune support, vitamin C helps alleviate allergy symptoms by slowing down the overreaction of your body to environmental triggers and decreasing histamine production. Young Living's Super C is fortified with rutin flower bud powder, citrus bioflavonoids, and minerals to balance electrolytes and enhance effectiveness and absorption.  It is also infused with essential oils to increase bioflavonoid activity.

Sulfurzyme:  Commonly used to relieve joint pain, reduce inflammation and oxidative cell damage, Young Living’s Sulfurzyme contains MSM and has been used successfully to reduce allergic reactions by reducing inflammation and inhibiting the release of the proteins that cause allergy symptoms.

Hydration: Drinking at least eight glasses of water daily will help to keep your body hydrated and help flush out allergens.

Nasal Irrigation: Use a neti pot to thin mucus and flush out allergens from your nasal passages. Adding a dash of Celtic salt or colloidal silver can enhance its effectiveness.

Essential Oils: Essential oils are a powerful way to combat allergy symptoms. Roman chamomile, lavender, peppermint, and eucalyptus are all known for their anti-inflammatory and soothing properties. I have spoken with many people (my hubby included) who have found rapid relief using this seasonal supportive essential oil blend.

Place a couple drops on the palm of your hand, rub your hands together, cup your hands over your nose and take several deep breaths... taking in the natural goodness of these oils!

LIFESTYLE ADJUSTMENTS

In addition to these natural remedies, making some lifestyle adjustments can also help ease your allergy woes and reduce the likelihood of an annual recurrence.

Dietary Changes: Processed foods, hydrogenated or highly processed seed oils, sugar, and alcohol burden your liver, making seasonal allergies much more likely.

Local Honey and Bee Pollen: The yummiest of solutions! You can build up resilience to the triggers in your area by incorporating raw local honey into your daily routine before allergy season hits. Bee pollen is another fantastic way to prepare your body for seasonal allergens. Loaded with vitamins, minerals and antioxidants, bee pollen is a beautiful immunity boosting allergy support - choose local!

Liver Support: Consider a liver support protocol and remove as many liver burdens as possible. Cleaning up your personal care products, your household products and your diet will make a HUGE difference! If you're looking for the easy button, I'm here to help you make some small steps towards big change!

Gut Health / Digestion Support: This is a big one... the health of your gut is strongly connected to seasonal allergies. When you consider that about 70% of your immune system resides within the gut, it becomes easier to understand how gut problems can be associated with immune-related conditions like seasonal allergies.  A gut supportive protocol can greatly reduce the incidence of seasonal allergies.  Everything starts in the gut!

With natural remedies and lifestyle adjustments, you can bid farewell to the allergy blues and embrace a sniffle-free season. I'm here to help!

Here's to breathing easy and enjoying all that nature has to offer—pollen and all!
Have a wonderful day!
